Venice Interfaith Community Association

Founded in 2004, the Venice Interfaith Community Association was born from the observation that our community was expanding, not only in size, but in diversity. Although many Christian denominations were represented in the Venice area there was no group that embraced the growing Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist populations. We further observed that faith-based organizations are a powerful force for community betterment and global understanding.

Based upon these premises, the vision of the Venice Interfaith Community Association is to promote the development of a culture which reflects the love, understanding, and support of and between all community members as taught by all of the faith traditions represented in our society.

Venice Interfaith Community Dinners Update

Last spring, UUCOV was invited to participate in a program to help feed the hungry with a home cooked meal once a week ... and participate we have, with both volunteer hours and money!

The first dinner was held in April, with 15 dinner guests attending; the last dinner hosted 135 guests. It is apparent that there is need in our community and a particular additional need has also been identified ... the people attending are in need of toiletries. The list follows:
Shampoo, Toothpaste and Toothbrushes, Hand Sanitizer, Hand/Body Soap, Deodorant, Bandaids and Antibiotic Ointment, Nail Clippers, Laundry Detergent, Toilet Paper, Hand Lotion, OTC Pain Medication, Feminine Hygiene Products, Razors, Sunscreen, Tissues, Insect Repellent, Mouthwash.

As you are able, please assist this program by purchasing and leaving these items every Sunday in the box in the back of the sanctuary labeled TOILETRIES. This will be an ongoing project, just like our work with the Food Bank. Many thanks.
