Welcome to our vibrant congregation! I am so happy you have discovered us!
Know that we are one of over a thousand Unitarian Universalist congregations in The United States, all of which believe in the inherent dignity and worth of the individual. This means that we do not require anyone to subscribe to a particular theological or philosophical belief or to live a certain lifestyle. Rather, we cherish the right of each person to choose from the marvelous diversity of human thought, feeling, and experience in order to develop into the unique individual she or he wants to be.
A cardinal principle of ours is that in our diversity lies our strength, but we do hope that these choices will be based on love and respect.
As a spiritual movement, we stem from the more liberal aspect of the Protestant faith, although in modern times we have become a people who have inculcated various aspects of the world's religions and philosophies.
Still, in common is our search for meaning and purpose in life, one which heralds both the contemplative and active aspects of our nature.
This means that a strong social justice aspect of our faith exists, one based on a fervent commitment to upholding the rights of humans and other animals, and to maintaining the sanctity of our planet.
You will find us a warm and inviting group who will be friendly but not intrusive in welcoming you. The richness of our services with their wonderful variety of spoken word, song and meditation, is an oasis of spiritual practice in a world at times so bent on maintaining a static approach to that which calls us to a higher plane of awareness and practice.
Since about 90% of all Unitarian Universalists were not raised as such, we were perhaps like you are at this moment in seeking an open and progressive community which is non-judgmental and accepting of who you are and want to be.
So, read more about us on our website, write or call us for further information, and visit us. Hopefully, we are what you have been looking for all your life!
Welcome, dear friend.
